A fading dusk.

This summer I was doing work for my job in Trilogy at La Quinta. On the drive over there, I got a quick glimpse of this very common, yet slightly creepy pair of trees with no leaves. What was interesting to me was that it stuck out like a sore thumb a in flat, desertscape.

About a week later I went back with two of my friends to capture this sight. After finding a place to park we found this straight manmade path leading to it; nothing was blocking it off. It was surprisingly large. While waiting for the sunset I almost missed the moment as it was abruptly cut off by the mountains. I managed to snap this shot before the warmth of the sun left our view. Having heard several coyotes prior, we left shortly after.

Andalusia Country Club seems to have this overly sized curved road as a border, a.k.a. Maddison Street. To better visualize the landscape I searched on Google Maps and looked at the street view. There I was able to find a view from 2008, where it seemed to have a lot of leaves, but none by 2019. After using Google Earth, I realized that it would have been right in the middle of Maddison Street if had not curved. I also noticed that a third tree had fallen over.

But that leaves me with some questions. Why was it not cut down? How long has it been there? This reminds me of 1 John 2:17. The things of this earth will eventually pass. I put my trust in the one who is eternal.
